Spray painting a cloud, playing hacky sack with the setting sun, or the classic of squishing a friend’s head with your fingers – it’s not black magic, but rather photo magic. Forced Perspective Photography to be more exact. Widely used in film making and architectural photography, it gives the optical illusion that something is actually bigger, smaller, closer or father than it really is.

Those blood thirsty dinosaurs sending cavemen running for their lives in old B-movies of yesteryear were not computer generated creatures, but rather models made to appear larger than life through forced perspective. The trick takes an equal amount of patience and skill, but the end results can be pretty funny, adding a terrific comedic touch on the standard vacation photo.
